Martin Luther King- 50th Anniversery of "I have a dream..."

"I have a dream..."
One man. One march. One speech. One dream

50 years ago today, Martin Luther King Jr and 250,000 people joined together for the March on Washington for racial equality. This is where Mr King cried his famous speech, "I have a dream" it was the defining moment in American Civil Rights Movement and one of the most powerful speeches in 20th century.

This is the shortened version. Watch it and be inspired!

But the real question is...

Have Martin Luther King achieved his dream to the fullest?

Before

Segregation

Now- Integration
What about Travyon Martin? His killer hasn't been brought to justice, Americans are still yearning for Mr King's dream.

Somalia- Step by Step

Somalia- Over 20 years of War.

Somalia has been long defined by blood
                                                       anarchy
                                                and poverty
Somalia is a failed state.

Now, 2013 Somalia has a new president, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud. Now, there is a British Embassy opened in the capital of Somalia.

"Soon, Somalia will be a different place, a better place," he said.

“Stand up for what you believe in even if you are standing alone”

Stand up for what you believe in even if you are standing alone”

1962: Nelson Mandela has done it.

2012: Malala Yousafzai has done it.

And why can't we? Do it for the innocent people in South Sudan being killed

                                                                                    or
Do it for the innocent Palestinians who want freedom; their                                                                       basic human right

Use your God-given voice to speak up. Do something

We all share this human experience. Whether your African to Orient, you share one community in common:

                                          The human community

So don't ever utter "Oh, this is not my problem but theirs..."

How selfish! If your a king or a servant, in God's eyes your human, your his creatures

Donate. Fundraise.   That is what I'm doing this summer '13.

Bashar Al-Assad- A ruthless dictator who doesn't say ‘yes’. The truth

Bashar Al-Assad

A ruthless dictator who doesn't say ‘yes’.

When you took over as president on 10 July 2000, after 30 years of a ruthless dictatorship led by your father, Hafez Al-Assad, both the Syrian people and the international community thought you would be a reformer, that you would bring democracy to your country. Thirteen years later, you are seen in a very different light. Ever since the Syrian uprising began in the spring of 2011, you have obstinately rejected any possibility of reform and have not hesitated to use imprisonment, torture and summary execution to silence opposition voices. In your determination to hold on to power, you have been responsible for an unprecedented bloodbath.

In his first Western interview with Barbara Walters he said. quote "There was no command to kill" He has denied his involvement with the Government and the Military forces. But answer this Assad what do you do? merely a face for Syria... if you are then leave. Stop your lies and your denials against your crimes against humanity.

You can have a fancy wife who was born in England and is educated. She can spend thousands of Syrian people's money on shopping. But remember when Syria is free I hope you are not, you will pay for the destruction of thousands of lives.

Syria deserves justice. You deserve imprisonment

"People do not make wars; governments do." R.R

In 2011 there was peaceful protests. Now 2013 its a civil war of blood and freedom.

Racism to me at age 7.

Over a period of time, I have been  racially 'targeted' . Some of them hidden whilst others were obvious..

I was  7 or 8, its hard to remember the exact age when you only remember the feeling.

I was going to Mosque weekend school to learn Arabic and Quran. I wanted to go because of my sisters were going plus it was a new experience! Anyway, I was the 2nd Somali (black) girl in the class the other girl sat next to me which was a good thing. We hit it off, now I understand when my dad says we hang around with people like us. But.. then she went home because she wasn't feeling well she left me with a cookie even though I was alone. Have you ever felt that feeling? when you just stick out and you hear the laughter and see the smiles that your not apart of, it sucks!

However, I still had the knack of making friends (I don't know how I did it :/) all of them were Arabs with the same language, the same culture heck! the only thing I have in common with them is that I'm Muslim... even though it weren't obvious I wasn't wearing a scarf.... awkward. It was break-time and my new found friends played outside but then... all I saw was some evil girl with dark features in my opinion she looked like she came from a hole down down below , she had a  mean face I wasn't sure if she always looked like that. Then, when me and my friends well her friends came to her we asked her to join then she said, I will never forget that as long as I die, "I'm not going to play with you because your black" those 10 words will haunt me forever, at the moment she unlayered an insecure side of me that I hate till this day and I'm 15 years old. Then 'my new friend's looked shocked but then left me, I felt so lonely once again... but the difference is I felt so little.

I didn't know racism before that. I didn't know that she could of gone to prison . You want to know why I didn't tell the teacher? ...

Because I thought she was going to agree with her too. Arabs stick together!,  right?

I haven't laid this experience to rest, my sisters say "Get over it!" ... but please how can I? I wanted to bleach my skin for a long time, I wanted to be white! so she can never ever say that she won't play with me because... I'm like her!

Sorry I can't keep writing. I just feel like its happening right now.... Bye :(
